The single most important thing you can do
for the health of your car or truck is to change the oil every
3 months or 3000 miles. Oil not only reduces the
friction in your engine, it also absorbs contaminates and keeps your
engine clean. Oil is the blood for your
engine. You need to keep it clean.
Are you wasting money at the pump? Fill
your auto with the gas octane rating specified in your owners manual.
Higher octane fuel is not necessarily best. Higher octane
fuel in a car or truck that does not require it serves
no benefit except costing you more money at the pump. Your manufacture
designed your vehicle to perform on the lower octane rated
fuel.

Custom World Automotive Quick Tips
Are your brakes squealing? Most
brake pads are designed to make noise when they are worn. See
your auto mechanic and have them checked before they completely wear
out. If you let them go too long, you may damage other more
expensive components of your brake system like rotors, drums or
calipers, making a small repair into a much larger costlier
problem.
When topping off your
radiator reserviour, make sure you use a 50/50 mix of antifreeze.
Do not add straight antifreeze. Antifreeze by itself is
poor conductor of heat compared to water and if the ratio of
antifreeze in your system gets to high, your vehicle may run
hot.
What
is your car or truck leaking? Do you have a
fluid under your vehicle and do not know where it came
from? Engine oil is visually a dark brown
or black color. Automatic transmission fluid is usually red or red
brown, and so is power steering fluid. Brake fluid
is mostly clear or slightly amber. Antifreeze can be
a number of different colors from orange to green to brown.
When you find a leak make sure you get your vehicle in for
service as soon as possible to prevent
damage.
